What is Cocoa butter?

Believe it or not, you must have tried it many times without having noticed in many products of the market, whether edible or cosmetic. Besides having many health benefits when ingesting them, they also have it on your skin.

Cocoa butter is native to Central and South America, but there are also large productions in parts of Central Africa and Asia. Cocoa butter is a natural oil that melts and extracts from the cocoa bean. Its fat is used to process the chocolate and give it a silky texture. Like other healthy sources that like skin, such as raw shea butter or coconut oil, cocoa butter is ideal for naturally healing dry and sensitive skin.

Pure, unrefined cocoa butter is completely edible and has a mild dark chocolate aroma, but not much flavor. It is a healthy fat, mostly saturated similar to coconut oil.

Its use in very common in lubricants for lips, lotions for the body, etc.

Cocoa beans are a high antioxidant food, as they contain a significant amount of polyphenolic antioxidants and flavonoids. In fact, cocoa beans themselves have proven to be one of the largest suppliers of polyphenols in our diets.

Some of these antioxidants remain in cocoa butter even after being separated from the beans’ solids, which means that it is beneficial to improve immunity, reduce inflammation and improve heart health, even though it is a saturated fat people used to be fear of before.
